Forest Road Brewing Company was founded by Bostonian brewer Pete Brown (not the writer) in the Summer of 2015. Pete brewed his first batch of beer in a 1 bedroom apartment in Queens, NYC in the Summer of 2009. When his hobby turned into obsession this lead him on a long path of perfecting professional brewing. Since then he has completed 2 diplomas in brewing (Institute of Brewing and Distilling, UK), a BSc in Biochemistry (University of Westminster, UK), and brewed at Wynkoop Brewery, Camden Town Brewery and Siren Craft Brew.

He is most known for the development of Quality Control programmes and documentation at both Camden Town and Siren to ensure product consistency and managing raw material efficiency & utilisation throughout the brewing process.

After leaving a senior position at Camden Town Brewery in early 2015 Pete moved into a house on Forest Road in Dalston, East London in the midst of a brewery-change. There he met his four new best pals and started the trial brews of what would become the first core pale ale of Forest Road Brewery, WORK. Once the recipe was perfected it was time to scale up - and after scouring the UK he ended up meeting the Leroy family in Boezinge, Belgium via email. Pete brought 75 kg of American hops over on the Eurostar and the first batch of beer was born.

After one failed import attempt, the first batch of beer finally came over on an artic lorry to a warehouse in Leyton.

Fast forward to 2019 - Forest Road Brewing Company - now a team of 6 full-time staff, two dogs and 4 bartenders and a taproom and bar by London Fields - sells beer to more than 100 accounts in Greater London and exports to Spain, Netherlands and Germany.

Pete and the Forest Road team are currently in planning for their own East London Brewery - due to open in 2020.
